Our Story
Ancient whispers. Modern grace. Handcrafted legacy.
The House of SUTRA
SUTRA began in the old city of Jaipur — in the lanes around Bapu Bazar where jewellery has been made by hand for as long as anyone can remember. The word sutra means thread: the thread that runs from grandfather to father to son at the workbench, from the first sketch to the last polish, from our hands to yours.
The Jaipur Atelier
Our atelier sits at Ram Lala Ji Ka Rasta, in the heart of the walled city. It is a small workshop, and we like it that way. Pieces are made in small numbers by silversmiths who learned the craft the way it has always been taught — by watching, by repeating, by years at the bench. No production line, no casting farm: files, chasing tools, flame and patience.
Our Silver
We work in solid 925 sterling silver. Every piece is hallmarked and honestly described — weight, stones and finish exactly as they are. Where we set stones, we use natural, hand-selected material, cut and matched in the traditional Jaipur manner. Polki, jadau and meenakari — techniques born in royal workshops centuries ago — remain the heart of our design language.
The Making
A single piece can pass through many hands: the sketch, the silversmith who raises the form, the setter who seats each stone, the enameller, and finally the polisher who brings up the shine. It is slower this way. It is also why no two pieces are ever perfectly identical — and why yours is truly yours.
Our Promise
- Handcrafted — every piece made by hand in Jaipur, start to finish.
- Honest — hallmarked silver, natural stones, described exactly as they are.
- Yours — small batches and one-of-a-kind pieces, never mass-produced.
